Lady Hornets win at home

Entering the heart of the 2018 track and field season, the Pine Bluffs Lady Hornets don’t seem to be losing any steam as they just edged out Burns last weekend here at home.

The Lady Hornets bested the Lady Broncs with 107.5 points. The Lady Broncs earned 102 points, but that wasn’t enough as the Lady Hornets earned 102.

Maddie Fornstrom put together several strong showings during Thursday’s meet, including a win in the 300-meter hurdles.

The 4X800-meter relay team consisting of Hallie Christofferson, Kaetlin Paice, Shelby Thurin and Maegan Madden also won their event with a time of 12:37.98.

Also placing for the Lady Hornets were:

Maddie Fornstrom, fourth, 14.47 (PR); Amber Abrams, seventh, 14.94.

200-METER DASH

Ashley Fabela, seventh, 32.31. (PR)

1600-METER RUN

Shelby Thurin, fourth, 6:54.88

Hallie Christofferson, 14:30.04.

300-METER HURDLES

Maddie Fornstrom, first, 50.67 (SR); Kendra Sloan, sixth, 55.21.

4X400-METER RELAY

Ashley Fabela, Nevaeh Garcia, Johnna Fornstrom and Ashlee Fjeld, third, 5:36.47.

4X800-METER RELAY

Hallie Christofferson, Kaetlin Paice, Shelby Thurin and Magan Madden, first, 12:37.98.

Following last week’s meet, the Lady Hornets have quite the week ahead of them.

Wednesday, several team members headed to Scottsbluff for the Best of the West Invitational.

(Results were not available following Tuesday night’s press deadline.)

Friday, they will head to Casper for the Wyoming Track Classic.

And Saturday, they will travel to Lusk.
