FCCLA, does it stand for? The answer is Family, Careers and Community Leaders of America. That is just FCCLA does, lead the community in striving to be a better place. Pine Bluffs High School has a small group of participants/students every year that enroll in the class and that should change. Enrollment opportunities are there, the word about this class just needs to be put out there for the students to know what the class is about. The FCCLA's mission statement is, "To promote personal growth and leadership development through Family and Consumer Sciences education. Focusing on the multiple roles of family member, wage earner(s), community leader(s), and member development skills for life. They do this by promoting: character development, creative and critical thinking, interpersonal communication, practical knowledge, and career preparation." Ms. Horrocks is the advisor and instructor of the class. She has done a phenomenal job with every facet of the position and continues to do so every day for the students and community alike. Every year there is speaker that heads an inspirational seminar pertaining to the fundamentals and aspects of what this program stands for. It is an excellent way to contribute your community, to get to know new people from all over our wonderful state, and feel a sense of pride and satisfaction knowing that you are helping out your community first hand for generations to come!
