PBHS Class of 2020 raising money with donkey basketball next week

February 28, 2019

The Pine Bluffs Hornets and Lady Hornets may have wrapped up their regular season play, but there will still be basketball played on their home court.

And it will be played on donkeys.

On Tuesday next week, residents will have the chance to see local firefighters, High West Energy employees and Pine Bluffs High School students play basketball on donkeys.

Proceeds will benefit the Pine Bluffs High School Class of 2020.

A press release issued by the event’s presenter, Dairyland Donkey Basketball, called the event “wilder than a rodeo and funnier than a circus.”

According to Dairyland Donkey Basketball’s website, the event is a fun way for local students to earn money with minimal risk.

If the ticket sales total more than $3,000, students receive 40 percent of the sales with Dairyland Donkey Basketball receiving 50 percent of the proceeds.

The donkeys wear non-marking, non-scuffing rubber shoes to prevent damage to the court.

Tickets are on sale now for $7 at Pine Bluffs High School.

They can also be purchased for $10 at the door.

It is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the PBHS gym.
