Fathers' Day grass fire squelched

Several Firefighters left their families this Father's Day to respond to a lightning caused grass fire 9 miles west of Pine Bluffs. We responded with a total of 5 LCFD 5 units and 10 firefighters. LCFD 6 was dispatched on automatic mutual aid and responded with 2 units and were canceled after going en route. The fire was contained at just under 3 acres.

As you can see in the pictures the grass appeared to be very green but there is old dead grass mixed in allowing fires to still spread. Fortunately with a quick response and elevated humidity the fire was controlled quickly saving hundreds o...
