Bowling as we know it today, has changed drastically over the years. In the beginning, around 5,000 B.C. the ancient Egyptians would roll stones at various objects hoping to knock them down and knock down more than their opponent.
Many of us remember “Fred Flintstone and his bowling during the stoneage. Boy has it changed.
However, according to William Pehle, a German historian, most Germans carried “kegels” - a wooden pin shaped rod used in sport and for protection. It was believed that knocking down kegels or pins with a rock would pardon their sins.
