From college to military..Kendra Sloan, 2019 Pine Bluffs High School graduate makes the switch from college books and sports uniforms to military uniform.

Giving up her sports uniform was a hard decision as this past Hornet medaled all years in track, and won state two years in pole vault, and 4x4 for three years. Coach Dustin Lee, who coached Sloan throughout high school praised her for her dedication, willingness to learn, and push herself to be better each time. "Kendra was great to work with, she has great talent, great work ethics and track was her time to shine!" stated Coach Lee. "We wish her great success in her next journey in life." he added.

Sloan has been attending Laramie County Community College for the past year on several scholarships. Like many other college students she found herself unsure of the direction to take and where it might land her.

With this knowledge in hand, Sloan has opted to go in the military and earn her education at the same time. "Kendra is a very patriotic person and her beliefs are very strong in our country as well." states her mother, Michelle Thompson.

Sloan left on March 30th for San Antonio, Texas and Lackland Air Force Base for her basic training. Upon completion of basic, she will then be assigned to Sheppard Air Force Base, Wichita Falls, Texas for technical school. Her training will be in the aeronautical aerospace field. She will be at Sheppard AFB, until October at which time she will head to Littlerock, Arkansas for eight weeks of additional training. Once her training is finished, she will be stationed in Cheyenne, Wyoming with the Wyoming Air Guard. She has currently committed to a six year enlistment, but doesn't rule out making it a life career.

Sloan expressed her hopes of sometime being deployed to see parts of the world she hasn't seen, and to be able to do some traveling.

This past Saturday, friends and family gathered to wish her farewell and good luck.
