The beauty of the homegrown plants and flowers is in the open class horticulture of the Laramie County Fair. It shows how well the contestants take care of them.
The grand champion of plants was a phalaenopsis orchid. This orchid blooms twice a year. The flowers were a beautiful light purple. An orchid is not the easiest plant to grow. This plant cannot be in direct sun or the leaves will blister. It needs some humidity in the air. A person only waters the orchid once a week.
