Carpenter Elementary designs and constructs egg cars.

The 6th grade class of Carpenter Elementary School used the Engineering Design Process to construct egg cars! They had to have a car that would drive straight for 2 meters. They had a budget and limited amount of supplies to use for their designs. The cars also had to protect the shell of an egg on impact at the end of the two meters!

Using decimal operations and the formula for calculating force, students were able to see just how much of an impact their cars were making. Some strategies included bumpers, seat belts, and air bags. Other students attempted to slow down their car to red...
