Lady Broncs place Fifth at Regionals


The Lady Broncs took to the road and headed for the Southeast 1A, 2A and 3A Regional Championships. The regional championship track and field meet was held in Newcastle last weekend and the Lady Broncs placed fifth in the meet. The top eight places in individual events and top four of team events will move on to the state meet next weekend.

For the Lady Broncs Emma Gonzalez qualified in four events. Three individual and one team. Rylee Jo Ward also qualified in four events. Three individual and one team. Emma Norris leaped her way to a Regional championship status by clearing 5ft in the high jump to take first place.

Emma Gonzalez qualified in the 800m, 1600m and 3200m runs. Grace Steenbergen qualified in the 400m dash. Rylee Jo Ward qualified in the 100m hurdles, 300m hurdles and pole vault. D.J. Kaur qualified in both the shot put and discus throws. Brooke Hansen qualified in the discus and the long jump. Kamber Clayson qualified in the pole vault along with teammate Ward. Maianna Siebert qualified in the triple jump.

Two of the relay teams are going to state. The 4x400m team of Grace Steenbergen, Rylee Jo Ward, Saria Eklund and Maianna Siebert qualified by placing second with a time of 4min 34.50sec. The SMR relay team of Maianna Siebert, Savannah Kirkbride, Grace Steenbergen and Emma Gonzalez placed second with a time of 4min 34.50sec to qualify.
