Gillming went to college to be a CPA but found it was not what he thought it was. In his sophomore year he had to make a decision to do better or take a different route, so he finished his teaching degree in sociology at Kearney College. He married his first wife Sid in !974. He then went to St. Paul Kansas Methodist Seminary School in !979.
