Above: Duggan brothers Doug, and Scott ended up competing against one another in the finals to be the First and Second place winners of the Grover Day Horseshoe Tournament.

Every year everyone tries to beat the Mayor of Grover and his brother at horseshoes.

Horseshoes was as popular as corn hole at one time. Everyone had stakes, shovels, and horseshoes at their homes or in their vehicles. It was the thing to do.The game has lost some of its thrill throughout the years except at Grover, Co.

There are four sets of horseshoe pits at the park in Grover. Each pit is set up with an enclosed pit and the right amount of dirt/sand in it. Plus for safety issues there is a back board at the pit area so the iron shoes will not hit someone. This year they even roped off...
