New Year's Eve Celebration through history

Celebrating the New Year is a tradition that is celebrated around the world today. People, families and friends gather together and watch as the time counts down and a new year is born. Today we celebrate this date on the eve of the first day of January and most times continue on into the day. However things were not as simple at the original celebration.

In Mesopotamia, where the earliest recorded new years celebration is said to have happened, the date was much different. According to our calendar the original new years celebration would occur on the first new moon after the spring equinox....
