Passing the Crown

In the past it would have been impossible for girls to wrestle on a high school team. A few years ago CharleMarie Jackson joined the Burns/Pine Bluffs wrestling team. She was the first girl to join and compete on the Burns/Pine Bluffs wrestling team. In an interview that year she said, "it didn't matter whether I wrestled boys or girls. I just enjoyed the competition." She added, "I think that maybe more girls would get involved if there was a girls' team." Just a couple of years later the Wyoming High School Athletics Association adopted and created a girl's wrestling program for the state.
