Commissioner Troy Thompson was elected chairman of the Laramie County Commissioners Tuesday afternoon. “As commissioner Humphrey said two years ago, chairman doesn’t mean any added power just added headache to prepare the meetings,” said Thompson. “I appreciate your confidence.”

Commissioner Buck Holmes was elected as vice chairman.

After voting on the minutes from the prior meeting and four consent items Thompson said, “This takes longer than it used to.” That was the only mention of the new dynamic of five commissioners versus three.

The commissioners agreed to raise the rent on Le Cafe`, LLC, by $45 due to the sanitation department increasing the counties fees. “I just want to make sure we are not arbitrarily increasing her rent,” said Thompson. Chris Wegner, building and maintenance, said the sanitation increased due to the additional business on the premise and the increase was $45.

The commissioners approved the nomination of three directors for Laramie County Weed and Pest Control. The new directors are Darrel E. Repshire for area 5, Dennis E. Hanson for area 7, and W. Bert Macy for area 3.

The next county commissioners meeting will be Tuesday, Jan. 22 at 3:30 p.m.
