Johnston takes first in long jump


Lyndee Johnston continued to impress this track season with a first place finish for the Pawnee Coyote squad at the Weld Central Rebel Round-up. The meet, with a field of 24 teams, was held Friday in Keenesburg, Colo.

“We had another cold and windy meet, but the kids came through with great effort,” said coach Kathy Adams.

In addition to her first place jump of 15’, 2.75”, Lyndee also took third in the triple jump with a distance of 30’, 7.25”, and fifth in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:51.62.

Afton Zitek ran the 100m 16.01 seconds and the 800m in 3:03.80. Emily Ellis had a jump of 25’, 10.5” in the triple jump and threw the shot put 26’, 8”. Morgan Sanders got a bit more distance on her shot put attempt with 27’, 3”. She also threw the discus 69’, 1”. Brandi Tilgman competed in the same events and turned in distances of 25’, 4” in the shot put and 77’, 11” in the discus.

In the men’s competition, Jaydee Johnston ran the 1600m in 5:56.08 and the 3200m in 12:47.97. Luke Duggan covered the 800m in 2:20.52 and the 1600m in 5:20.66.

Weather permitting, the Coyotes next meet will be held Saturday at Platte Valley.
