A legacy of giving joy

Chuck Lyons and his wife Mary proudly display the statute he was given at the Christmas at Home celebration Dec. 2. Chuck was an important piece in bringing the joy home to Pine Bluffs for 20 years.

When Chuck Lyons' father, Basil "Bill" Lyons, began bringing cheer to the community of Pine Bluffs during the Christmas season, Chuck probably never thought the legacy of joy would be passed on.

Bill was a member of the Lions Club in Pine Bluffs, and Chuck isn't sure how his dad got the job of wearing that very special suit each December. But he is sure how he stopped wearing it.

"My dad was looking for someone to replace him," Chuck said. "I guess I worked pretty well, I lasted about 20 years."

Chuck's parents moved to Pine Bluffs from Carpenter when he was a young boy and his dad started...
