Pine Bluffs Post - Serving all of Eastern Laramie County since 1908

64th Trail Days kicks off July 30

The 64th Pine Bluffs Trail Days kicks off July 30 this year and ends Aug. 3, giving everyone the opportunity to celebrate the town of Pine Bluffs and the passing of the Texas Trail through town.

The popular event started around 1950 with a free barbecue lunch, drawing in about 2,200 people, which was deemed a “great success.” The “Fourth Annual Trail Days,” held in 1852, drew in even a larger crowd, with more than 3,000 people. Raffle ticket prizes back then were a $500 television set and radios.

Today, Trail Days has blossomed and is spread over several days featuring events like a youth rodeo, melodrama, mud volleyball, a talent show and much more. But the fun and sense of community offered through the event has yet to change.

“Many former residents [of Pine Bluffs] come here during Trail Days to renew acquaintances and friendships ...” said a former Pine Bluffs Post article written back in 1952. The same can be said today about Trail Days.
