Even cute chicks can carry harmful germs


With the season approaching when baby chicks and ducklings are typically bought and sold around the state, a Wyoming Department of Health (WDH) representative says even cute chicks can sometimes carry harmful germs.

“While many animal species can carry salmonella bacteria, baby poultry, even if they appear healthy and clean, are a common source of the germ,” said Tiffany Lupcho, WDH surveillance epidemiologist.
