Lenna Olson

Lenna passed away on March 3, 2015, in Cheyenne, at the age of 98. She was born in Pine Bluffs on Dec. 27, 1916, to Claude & Bernice Grigsby, living all but 11 years of her life in Pine Bluffs. Cremation has taken place with interment in the Pine Bluffs Cemetery on March 9, 2015.

She married Walton Olson on Dec. 20, 1937, and to this union was born two daughters: Shirley and Marvilyn. Surviving her is one daughter, Marvilyn (Gale) Ray; granddaughter, Tanya (John) Eisele; grandsons, Scott (Kim) Burnette, Kurt (Becky) Burnette and Todd Ray; six great-granddaughters; and one great-great-granddaughter. She and Walton shared a special relationship for the 58 years they were married, and she has missed him greatly for the last 20 years.

Attending all 12 years of school in Pine Bluffs, she graduated with honors from Pine Bluffs High School in 1935. During her senior year the girls basketball team took first at state, and Lenna was chosen captain of the Girls State Basketball Team. This was an honor she was proud of.


A life-long member of the Methodist Church, she sang in the choir for many years. She was also a member of the Gleaner's Club, a Past Matron of the Pine Bluffs Order of the Eastern Star, and a 70-year member, and bowled for many years with two different leagues.

During the time her girls were in school, she and Walton were very active in all school sports and volunteered their time and services for many activities. They always enjoyed spending time and doing things with their daughters. An avid crafter, she enjoyed her knitting and crocheting along with other handcrafts that she did. Many things she sold while in Arizona being a snowbird.

The family was uppermost in their lives, and it showed in the love and time spent with their children and grandchildren.

She had a long, fulfilling life and, will be missed by all her family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Shirley; son-in-law, Chuck Burnette; and granddaughter, Denise Burnette.
