Women's Ag conference set for Sept. 11

The 2015 Women Stepping Forward for Agriculture Conference will be held Sept. 11 and 12 at the Big Horn Resort in Billings, Mt. The event, held annually since 2001, is one of the largest women’s agricultural conferences in the region.

The conference provides women the opportunity to learn about current events and agricultural issues, network with other women involved in agriculture, and focus on leadership development. The mission of the Women Stepping forward for Agriculture symposium is to, “empower women involved in all sectors of agriculture through education, collaboration, and networking, to ensure the success of farming and ranching across the region.”

This year the conference will feature two nationally recognized speakers. Marji Guyler-Alaniz will discuss her use of photography to update the image of agriculture to include women. She will also provide a session on the use of social media and photography to tell the story of agriculture. Additionally, Renea Heinrich will teach attendees how to become a better ambassador for agriculture by changing the conversation. Other conference topics and events include: how to write a business plan, handing down your farm or ranch, sustainability and marketing, a cooking demo, an economic outlook for ag commodities, a women in business panel, and much more. The event will close Saturday evening with a “Kick off your boots and paint a while” event, and each attendee will leave with their own unique work of art.
