Lady Hornets rally to defeat Burns

Use momentum to take down Southeast

After dropping the first two games to the Burns Lady Broncs 23-25, 23-25, the Pine Bluffs Lady Hornets pulled out the match win Friday night at home.

Analyzing the game, coach Chris Nusbaum was able to nail down the troubles with the first two games.

“We got off to a very slow start and our lack of communication was an issue,” said the coach.

The Lady Hornets were able to correct the problem though as they knocked down the next three games 25-16, 25-16, 21-19 for the match win.

“I was very proud of the way the girls fought back and didn't back down,” Nusbaum said.

The grit and tenacity shown by the girls on the volleyball court gave Nusbaum a hint of what is to come.

“I was very proud of the way the girls fought back and didn't back down,” said Nusbaum, “They showed what this group of girls is made of. It will be exciting to watch as they continue to grow as a team.”

 Southeast

Maintaining the momentum from the night before, the Lady Hornets faced the Southeast Cyclones winning in four, 25-23, 25-22, 22-25, 25-14.

“This was a great team win for us. Southeast is always tough, but the girls showed a lot of determination and grit,” Nusbaum said.

In the third game Nusbaum cited an issue from the night before as their undoing.

“Our communication was lacking in the third and that cost us,” the coach said.

But again the Lady Hornets were able to shake off their issues and prevail.

“We bounced back in the fourth and didn't look back. I was really proud of the way the girls got after it today.”

Pine Bluff is currently 4-3 on the year and 2-0 in conference play.
