Albin News

About 50 miles west of us there is a little rodeo going on for 10 days.

Cheyenne Frontier Days is a great opportunity for family and friends to get their cowboy on. Many of our neighbors volunteer their time, contributing to the 2,500 volunteers who keep the fun rolling. Whether you volunteer or just wander through the exhibits and villages, and take in a rodeo and show, CFD is like a big ol’ backyard.

Lassoing another year is Kaden Malm on August 1 and Melissa Nichols August 5. Lots of cake and candles at the Malm house this week with Katelin Malm on August 8. Happy birthday to all you cowboys and cowgirls.

Similar to the wild horse race without the chance for pain and suffering is the fiesta Miguel and Patricia Chavez host every year. This years fiesta is scheduled for July 30. For more information or to get involved in the fun, contact Miguel Chaves.

Perhaps a cowboy or cowgirl that you met at the rodeo will “take you away.”

If you are not present for the upcoming primary election, remember to cast your absentee ballot in Albin the second week in August. For more information, contact Jillian at the town hall.

Maybe you are tired of sitting in the stands just watching the action and work in Albin. You should get yourself “back in the saddle again,” and throw your hat into the race for the open council seat for Albin’s Town Council. You will need to speak to Jillian by August 10.

The fun doesn’t have to end when the professional cowboys load up their horses and leave Cheyenne.

The Laramie County Fair begins the second week of August. Many of our youngsters and a few young-at-heart participate and compete for the purple ribbons. If you get a chance, get into town and cheer them on as and take in all the exhibits and activities.

A rodeo without spectators is just a wild horse and bull lose on the farm. Let us know all your news so we can all join in the fun. Get your news to Jillian at the town hall by Monday at 5 p.m.
