After coaching the defending state 2A basketball champions through an undefeated regular season in 2016-17, head coach Will Gray (center) has resigned as basketball coach at Pine Bluffs. He will continue to coach football.

Will Gray has coached his last boys basketball game at Pine Bluffs High School. Last week, he tendered his resignation to the Laramie County School Board #2 and was made official at last Monday night's board meeting. Gray issued the following statement to the Post:

"I had a great time coaching basketball in Pine Bluffs for the last 10 years. The past 5 years as the head coach have been some of the most rewarding times of my life. However, it is time for the program to be led by a someone other than myself. The program is full of talent, and I think that new leadership will be a spring board for success. I'd like to thank the kids I have had the pleasure of being around. They are the reason I choose to coach. The kids and their families give up a lot free time from Memorial Day Weekend to early March, and if it wasn't for their efforts we would not be as successful as we were. I would also like to thank my Wife, Jessica, and my kids, Abby, Avery, and Weston for allowing me the time to do it. We have a great community, and our success is directly tied to the amount of support we have gotten from the great people we are surrounded by."

Gray will still stay on as the head coach of the Pine Bluffs Hornets football team.
