Pawnee boys track and field places 9th at state

Drew Ellis, pictured in action from earlier in the season, finished first in the Long Jump and third in the Tripe Jump to help Pawnee earn 9th place at the CHSAA Class 1A State Championships in Lakewood, Colo. on May 20.
The Pawnee 2017 track and field season came to a close on May 20 with the CHSAA Class 1A State Championships in Lakewood, Colo. In team standings, the boys finished ninth out of 36 teams who placed.
Individually, Drew Ellis had the best showing of Pawnee competitors with a first place finish in the Long Jump event, followed by teammate Bryce Schnug in second. Ellis also placed third in the Triple Jump event.

Individually, Ellis' first place Long Jump distance of 20'5.00" earned the team 10 points, while Schnug's jump of 19'9.00" earned Pawnee eight points.
Ellis' third-place effort of 41'9.25" in the Triple Jump added seven points for the Coyotes.
Schnug finished sixth in the 110m Hurdles to earn Pawnee four points.
Jade Cass added four points for the Coyotes with a sixth-place finish in the High Jump category with a leap of 5'8.00", tying with Casper Freedle of Creede.
