For the first time in school history, the Pine Bluffs Hornets are the Wyoming 1A high school football state champions. The Hornets edged the Tongue River Eagles 10-7 last year at War Memorial Stadium in Laramie to capture the title.

In a quote attributed to legendary University of Alabama football coach, the late Paul "Bear" Bryant, "Offense sells tickets, but defense wins championships." If you attended the Wyoming 1A state title game last Saturday in Laramie, then you know there's a lot of weight to that quote. In what can only be described as a battle of defense, the Hornets were able to edge the Tongue River Eagles 10-7 to take state for the first time in the school's history. A feat not lost on head coach Will Gray.
