Raccoons delay Windows on the Past work

A wind turbine about 20 miles south of Pine Bluffs turns with the heavy winds Tuesday afternoon. Much of the area was under a high wind advisory Monday through Tuesday. Windy weather is expected to remain in the area through Thursday, after which snow is predicted to fall in the area Friday and into Saturday.

Thanks to a family of raccoons, the Windows on the Past archeology site might not ready and open by Memorial Day Weekend.

"We unfortunately found that some raccoons got in there and made a pretty big mess at the archeology site," Pine Bluffs Treasurer Kim Patterson said Monday night.

Last month, town council members approved a plan to improve the facility's driveway and parking lot. When town employees visited the site to plan the upgrades, they discovered the trash pandas had already moved in.
