BAYARD, Neb. - Pine Bluffs wasn't the only team from Laramie County to have success at the Bayard, Neb. Track and Field Invite last Thursday.

The Burns Lady Broncs strung together several strong finishes to earn a fifth-place finish at the Nebraska meet.

Burns earned 36 points in total.

Head Coach Brooks Hoffman said several girls put together personal bests.

"I was proud to see the girls use the opportunity on a cold day to improve their marks," Hoffman said. "As the weeks progress and the training builds, I feel this group of girls will continue to redefine what they are capable of."

The Lady Broncs' success came in a variety of events.

Layne Brunett put together a 6-minute flat 1600-meter to earn first place in the event.

Miranda Mosley's 8-foot effort in the pole vault was also strong enough for a first-place finish.

Teammate Madison Thompson just missed out on scoring points with her 6:21.09 effort, just three seconds shy of Crawford, Neb.'s Madison Thompson.

Jaden Gipfert had a good day on the hurdles. In the 100-mete hurdles, she came in at 18.30, good enough for a sixth-place finish. Switching to the 300-meter hurdles, she was fifth at 54.97.

In the 800-meter event, Kate Bach's time of 2:46.33 was good enough for a fourth-place finish. The 4X800-meter relay team of Mackenzie Faircloth, Thomspon, Piper Perez and Layne Burnette finished second with a combined time of 11:03.92.

A nearly identical 4X400 relay team of Faircloth, Thompson, Cassidy Weibel and Perez took fifth-place marks at 4:55.20.

The 4X100-meter relay team of Gipfert, Rachel Kelly, Jakobi Mirich and Malli O'Neal earned fourth-place marks.

Faircloth also had success in the pole vault with a 7-foot vault.

On Thursday, the Lady Broncs will travel to Mitchell, Neb. to continue their season.
