Burns boys 7th at Mitchell

Burns' Kaden Lakin runs in the 4X400-meter relay at the Mitchell, Neb. Invite last Thursday.

MITCHELL, Neb. - Strong finishes in the right events helped the Burns Broncs earn a seventh-place finish at the Mitchell Track and Field Invited held last Thursday. Tyler Norris finished strong in field and running events.

In the pole vault, Norris earned third with his 12' even effort.

Switching to the 110-meter hurdles, Norris earned eighth coming in at 17:53.

Consisting of Norris, Daniel Childers, Alex Pyle and Boe Clayson, the Broncs' 4X100-meter relay team came in with a sixth-place finish with a time of 48.35.

Further relay success came for Burns in the 4X400-meter relay.

In that event, Jack Ickes, Kaden Lakin, Wyatt Ebben and Childers finished with a time of 3:49.87, good for sixth place.

The same group of runners teamed up in the 4X800-meter relay for a fourth-place finish at 9:08.06.

In field events, Lakin came in eighth in the long jump.

Lakin jumped 18' 6.5".

Ebben earned second in the 800-meter run at 2:10.8.

Following closely behind was Ickes, who took sixth, with a time of 2:17.32.

Burns will host a meet Thursday.
