Pine Bluffs Post - Serving all of Eastern Laramie County since 1908

Town will allow fireworks in July

Pine Bluffs residents will be able to set off certain fireworks during three-day period in July.

On July 3, 4 and 5 residents can enjoy ground-based fireworks and sparklers. On July 3 and 5 fireworks will be permitted within town limits until 10 p.m.

July 4, they will be permitted until midnight.

“This allows everybody an opportunity to take their kids and shoot off some fireworks if they so please,” Pine Bluffs Police Chief Justin Trout said.

Pine Bluffs Town Council voted 4-0 Monday night to allow the practice. Each year, the council will have to renew the policy.

In the past, Pine Bluffs has prohibited fireworks during the holiday.

Trout said that hasn’t deterred people from shooting them off anyway.

“Since I’ve been here for the past four years, they’ve lit them off regardless and I’ve had to come in and tell them not to,” Trout said. “We haven’t had any fires so far — no eyes out, no fingers out.

“It’d be something nice for the community to be able to do.”
