Winter sports begin Thursday

Burns Winter Classic, Charlie Lake Invite kick off winter sports

The Burns boys basketball team was hard at work practicing Tuesday afternoon. They begin their season Thursday.

Prep sports are finally coming back to the area.

Starting Thursday, schools from around the state will descend on Burns for the Winter Classic basketball tournament.

Local play starts at 6 p.m. when the Burns boys take on Moorcroft.

Next up will be the Pine Bluffs girls, who will play Wyoming Indian at 7 p.m.

The Burns girls will take on Moorcroft at 7:30 p.m.

Thursday night's action will wrap up when the Pine Bluffs boys compete against Wyoming Indian at 8:30 p.m.

The tournament will go through Saturday.

Wrestlers will also hit the mat Friday at Cheyenne East High School where the Burns-Pine Bluffs team will compete in the Charlie Lake Invite.

That's scheduled to start at 9 a.m and run through Saturday.
