Melvin Eugene Waterman, 73, passed away peacefully at home on Feb 14th with his loving wife, Karen, by his side.

Mel was born December 24, 1945 to Clemens and Olive Waterman of Stronghurst, IL as the ninth of their ten children. He proudly served his country, overseas, in the Vietnam War as part of the Navy before he settled down in Iowa, where he met Karen McDowall. Mel and Karen wed July 2, 1977 in Red Oak, IA before relocating to Colorado, and later to Wyoming.

Mel will be remembered by his humor, always making everyone laugh, even when he was not doing well. 'Oh, pretty good', he would say, despite the pain that he often had. Mel will be remembered for the love that he shared for everyone, always listening, always caring. He was such a bright spot in the lives of every person that he met and was loved by so many. He will be greatly missed.

He is preceded in death by both parents; his brother, Harold; and sisters, Doris Peterson, Vivian Brill, and Kate Waterman; his mother-in-law, Helen 'Allie' McDowall.

Mel is survived by his wife of 41 years, Karen; his seven children that he was so proud of: Toni (Duane) Griffey, Joey Waterman, Wendy Duysen, Rob (Gin) Waterman, Betsy (Hal) Todd, Chad (Randee) Waterman, Matthew (Deanne) Waterman; 24 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Mel is also survived by siblings: Bill Waterman, Roy Waterman, Shirley Stephenson, Sam Waterman, and John Waterman; and many nephews and nieces that he loved so much.

Cremation has taken place and services are under the direction of Schrader, Aragon, and Jacoby Funeral Home took place Tuesday, February 19th at First United Methodist Church of Pine Bluffs, Wyoming, at 2 pm.
