Pine Bluffs Hornets Boys Varsity basketball team (3-5) hosted the Encampment Tigers (6-0) last Thursday night. The Hornets were looking to start the weekend with a sound victory but ended up losing to the stronger Tigers by a score of 69 to 41. The 6-0 Tigers were just a bit stronger than the Hornets.

The Hornets scored 8 points in the first quarter led by Ty Sweeter with 1 field goal and 3 free throws. The Tigers did score 15 points in the first quarter. In the second quarter the Hornets scored 11 points to the Tigers 24. Stuart Lerwick led the way hitting 2 three pointers and 2 free throws. The Hornets entered the locker room at the half trailing the Tigers 39 -19. The second half did not turn out much better as the Hornets scored 13 in the third and 9 in the fourth. Stuart Lerwick led the team in third quarter with 5 points and Collin Jessen had 4 in the fourth to lead the Hornets scoring.

Coach Kimzey said this about the game, "We lost a lot of points out there. We had too many turn overs and gave up too many rebounds. But the kids hustled." When asked if he was going to change anything he replied, "No, we do what we do. We're just going to get better at it." Asked if he was worried about the game against Burns on Saturday he said, "No, not really too worried. We are just going to keep doing what we do and see what happens and hopefully get better."

For the Hornets Stuart Lerwick (Sophomore) scored 16 points and was their leading scorer. He hit 4 three pointers, 1 field goal and 2 free throws. Ty Sweeter (Junior) nailed 12 points with 3 field goals and 6 free throws. Collin Jessen (Junior) had 11 points for the game. He hit 5 field goals and 1 free throw. Marvin Reza (Senior) added 2 more points with a field goal in the fourth.
