Laramie County Fire District No. 3 of Albin responded to a grass fire on Sunday afternoon southwest of Albin. The fire was on County road 157 and 223. There was no damage to surrounding structures but about 25 to 30 acres of Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) land was burned. The Wyoming wind was blowing at an approximate speed of 23 miles per hour, which did not help with the extinguishing of the fire.

Laramie County Fire District No. 3 called upon other local fire districts to assist in the grass fire outside Albin. Laramie County Fire Districts No. 3, Albin, No. 5, Pine Bluffs, No. 6, Burns and Bushnell, Nebraska fire departments were present to assist with the fire. All together there were about 11 grass fire units working together to put out the fire. The fire has been ruled as an accident.

"I would like to thank everyone who showed up to help fight this fire. It could have been much worse but thankfully we had a lot of mutual aid to assist." stated Lee Peterson, Fire Chief for Laramie County Fire District No. 3.
