Pine Bluffs Youths take swimming and pool safety seriously as life guards

On Memorial weekend, ten young adults went to Cheyenne to get certified to be lifeguards at the Pine Bluffs swimming pool.

Sammie Fornstrom, the pool manager, stated five received full lifeguard certifications and five was renewed their certifications.

For each participant who wishes to become certified, they must meet several requirements:

They must be able to swim 300 yards, tread water for two minutes, swim 100 yards using different strokes (front crawl, freestyle or breaststroke without resting) and not using the ladder to get out.

They get certified in first aid and cardiopulmonary...
