Local Lady takes Second in Chugwater
September 22, 2022
Local residents Buzz and Kathy Canady recently drove Kathy's Rat Rod up to Chugwater to show her Rat Rod off. Kathy took second place in the People's Choice Awards in Chugwater, Wyoming where they competed in the Rat Rod competition held at the Chugwater K9 Classic run and car show.
The rat rod is Kathy's pride and joy and she has named it B'atch Crusier. The body of the car was found in a field with the back all shot up. Buzz pulled it into the shop and started to make the car run, be safe and street legal for his wife to drive. Buzz actually drove the vehicle up to Chugwater for the show. Its been quite the job but one that they both loved doing.
This is the second time that she has shown her ride. The car is a 1932 Ford Tudor. This unique vehicle is made up of several different parts and items found around Buzz's shop. For instance, the door panels are stop signs that he has found discarded along the road. The windows and mirrors are off a 1974 Lincoln Continental. Under the hood, oops sorry no hood, the vehicle is powered by a Ford 460 ci engine. "Yes you can lift the front end of the car off the road." said Buzz. The twisted driveline shows evidence of that.
There are many unique characteristics to this rat rod. For instance, the vehicle was found in a field and looks like it was used for target practice. There are several bullet holes in the back of the cab. Kind of gives it a Bonnie and Clyde vibe. The vehicle is street legal and you can see Kathy driving it around town to pickup mail or go to the grocery store. The body color has a very distinctive rust patina and with the mirrors and tail lights that Buzz ordered on line the look and feel of this rod is very old school. You can see beer pull handles from a dispenser for the dipsticks. The transmission shifter has a skull and crossbones at the top.
If you see it driving around town give it a good look and inquire about it. Buzz and Kathy are happy to talk about it and show it off.
