Auxiliary raises record donations from poppy sales

The Ladies Auxiliary of the Louis E. Canady American Legion Post 60 spent Friday afternoon and Saturday morning collecting donations and distributing red crepe paper poppies to area residents. The ladies of the Louis E. Canady American Legion Post 60 Auxiliary were busy this weekend helping Post members place flags on graves of veterans at the Pine Bluffs Cemetery, serving up hamburgers and hotdogs grilled by Post members, to the public, on Memorial Day, and received donations for the traditional red poppy sales.

Over a two-day period the Auxiliary collected approximately $300 in donations for the poppies, almost twice what they have collected in years past. Diane Wise, president of the Auxiliary, said she was surprised when she finally counted the money, knowing people had been...
