    The Burns High School girls' basketball team locked up a berth at this week's 2A state tournament with a second-place finish at the East Regionals. The Lady Broncs advanced to the championship game last weekend, but dropped a 44-38 decision to Southeast.     A furious comeback fell just short last week for the Pawnee High boys’ basketball team in the Colorado 1A District 4 tournament. The Coyotes trailed by 11 points in the final quarter against Peetz in the opening round of the tournament at Northeastern Junior College in Sterling and rallied back to take a one-point lead with 27 seconds left.     The Pine Bluffs girls' basketball team saw its season come to an end last week, falling one win shy of qualifying for the Wyoming 2A State Tournament. The Lady Hornets fell into the consolation bracket of the 2A East Regional at Big Horn last week. They lost to host Big Horn, 57-45, in the consolation semifinals to end their season with a 17-6 record. A win in that game would have propelled them into this week's state tournament.     The season may have ended last week for the Pawnee High girls’ basketball team, but coach Megan Malcom can point to some marked improvements over the final few games. The Coyotes dropped a 42-35 decision to Heritage Christian last Wednesday in the opening round of the Colorado Class 1A District 4 tournament at Northeastern Junior College in Sterling.     With two more wins last weekend, the Pine Bluffs High boys’ basketball team will head into this week’s Wyoming 2A East Regional Tournament with plenty of high hopes.
