    A senior from Pine Bluffs High School has received the prestigious Trustees Scholars Award from the Univeristy of Wyoming. The student awarded this scholars award is Leonardo "Samuel" Garcia. He learned of the scholarship in a meeting with the UW admissions rep, Katie Watson. This scholarship based on GPA and ACT scores. Students from all over the state of Wyoming applied for this award.     WASHINGTON - U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos today announced the approval of Wyoming’s consolidated state plan under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). “Wyoming’s plan met the requirements of the law, and so I am happy to approve it,” said Secretary DeVos. “This plan should not be seen as a ceiling, but as a foundation upon which Wyoming can improve education for its students."     This year, indoor track has many more participants. In the past few years, only five participants have played and not all played in one year. The most Pine Bluffs has had in a year was two participants until this year. This year PBHS has six student athletes.     The Lady Hornets played hard this weekend and it payed off. The Lady hornets won both games leaving this weekend as champs. The first game was against Front Range on Friday January, 12th. The final score was 59 to 17. The game leaders were #20 Kammie Ragsdale, #22 Hyleigh Fornstrom, and #12 Torri Fornstrom.     The Burns Boys Broncs played three games this past week. The first game was against Mitchell, second was against Glenrock, and with Lusk in the end.
