  • Major construction project to begin on I-80

    Polly Taylor|Apr 2, 2015

As you have no doubt noticed, there has been an increasing number of workmen and trucks on Interstate 80, in and around the two exits to Pine Bluffs, and over the Muddy Creek Drive area. You will be seeing a lot more of them as the Wyoming Department of Transportation (WyDOT) begins a multi-year project to replace the Beech Road, Parsons Street and Muddy Creek Drive overpasses. The work going on, on I-80, involves creating detours for westbound travelers, but the real work will begin April 13,...

  • Even on the frontier, we rely on gadgets

    Bill Sniffin|Apr 2, 2015

Vexing. That is the best word I could find that describes how irritated I have been lately when all sorts of modern techno-gadgets go on the blink. And after hours of talking to nice folks on the telephone, we finally got some of these devices, at least, back to work. Most of my career has been in the newspaper business, which involved lots of complicated, expensive machines ranging from fussy cameras up to noisy, rattling presses. Keeping them all going was a constant worry. Most recently, my... Full story

  • A medical center with bankers hours

    Apr 2, 2015

To the Editor: It is hard to comprehend how medical treatment at a local medical center in rural Wyoming can be so selective in the time of providing emergency medical care. Especially emergency care to local residents that reside in the same community where the medical center is built. True, there are hours of operation for all business places, but to shorten medical service response time by only a few minutes of a business clock when emergency care is requested, is in my opinion unacceptable and dangerous to any patient. I would like our Pine...

  • No Till Notes: It's more than no tillage

    Mark Watson|Apr 2, 2015

Over the past 40-plus years many producers have moved from a wheat/fallow production system to an ecofallow system, which includes a summer crop, to a continuous no-till crop production system. Each system adds intensity with wheat/fallow having a wheat crop every other year, to ecofallow, with crops grown two out of three years, to a continuous no-till system where a crop is grown every year. As the intensity of these production systems increases the diversity of the crops produced also... Full story

  • Banner County News

    Barb Cross|Apr 2, 2015

Good morning! Banner County, neighbors and friends near and far. Hope you are all well and dealing with the crazy weather. Weeks mixed with winter/spring and lots of wind here lately. A friend told me that we were supposed to have winds up to 60 miles per hour this past Sunday. I do not know if that happened; however, it sure gave it a good try. Forget trying to fly a kite, no way could you keep a hold of one. By about 5 p.m. it was absolutely beautiful out. Happy Easter to each and everyone of... Full story

  • Albin News

    Charlene Smith|Apr 2, 2015

A light cover of snow reminded us that we never control the thermostat of earth. I doubt you heard many complaining. The moisture was much needed and encouraged to come again but perhaps in the form of rain next time. Another thing we don't control is death. Sometimes it seems to come early. When a loved one is suffering, it seems to never relieve their pain and prolong ours. Carol Moore passed away and our hearts go out to Bill and her entire family. Stop for a minute and send a card or call... Full story

Burns girls competed in the Morrill Early Bird track meet Saturday morning. According to Coach Brooks Hoffman, “It was a great start to the year for the Burns Broncs.
