The Wyoming Truck Convoy is a celebration of the trucking industry and its support of Special Olympics Wyoming athletes which occurred on Saturday September 18th in Cheyenne Wyoming. There were 51 trucks who participated in the event. This has been happening since 2005 throughout the U.S. and Canada. Each year is gets bigger. This benefits the Wyoming Special Olympics. The Pine Bluffs Police Dept. in conjunction with Crossroads Community Church, Lighthouse Assembly of God Church, the Town of Pine Bluffs and Life Choice will be offering a Free parenting class to be held on Monday nights from 6:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. These classes will start on October 4th and run through November 8th. This class does not matter if you are new parent or have youth in school, even grandparents may want to attend to help with parenting. Town safety is a major concern for Mayor James Clark. He has been wondering about hiring someone to be a town marshal. This is because the Sheriff's departments have not been in the area. He was thinking around 20 hours per week for the individual to work. Mayor Clark knows of some candidates that could possibly fill that role. The Pine Bluffs Hornets Varsity football team traveled to Saratoga to take on the Panthers in their third game of the season. If the Hornets are able to keep their play up they will be in line for the state championship game. They have already knocked off the number one team, Lusk and now they have beaten the fifth ranked team the Saratoga. The Hornets beat the Panthers 55-0. The Burns Lady Broncs volleyball team played two matches last week. They went to Rawlins and then hosted the Torrington team here at home. The Pine Bluffs Lady Hornets volleyball team played the Glenrock Herders team in a conference match up. They were enthusiastic and energetic but were not able to overcome the Herders. The Pine Bluffs/Burns cross country track team traveled to Sinclair, Wy to compete in the Rawlins Cross Country Innovational 2021 meet. The team did well as the boys placed fifth and the girls placed fourth in the meet. Emma Gonzalez placed second in the 5000 meter run continuing her run for another All-State Award recognition. There are approximately 200 people with COVID-19 in Wyoming hospitals today, which is near the peak number the state has seen during the pandemic.
