Connie Jo Sharpe passed away peacefully on September 20, 2023 at her home in Hillsdale, Wyoming after a long recuperation from a period of illness. She was born on February 20, 1961 in Grand Junction, Colorado. CHEYENNE– The Department of Workforce Services Workers’ Compensation Division proposes a significant decrease in workers’ compensation rates. For 2024, the overall rate indication is a decrease of 6.5% compared to the overall Industry Base Rates in 2023. Farm stands are always fun to go to and see what is new and fresh. The Lucky Buffalo Farm stand has opened up just east of the turn off at Hillsdale on the I-80 highway. It is fall with livestock judging in full force. Pine Bluffs Future Farmers of America went to Laramie County Community College to a livestock judging event. The members have an opportunity to use their judgement on what a judge would pick in a contest. They look at the animals and scrutinize the muscles, frame, the filling out of the body, if fat is an issue, kind of breed, and the kind of animal. Pine Bluffs sent two teams to the event. Last Friday the Pine Bluffs Hornets welcomed the Moorcroft Wolves to a battle on the field. The Hornets were 3-0 as they continued their way to another state championship. The Wolves, who were 1-2 wanted to move up in the standings as they were ranked fifth. The Hornets quickly dashed that dream away from the Wolves as they beat them 46-0. On Tuesday, September 19th the Pine Bluffs Lady Hornets junior varsity saw action against the Guernsey-Sunrise Lady Vikings in a volleyball match.
