  • Cowboys playing most hectic and crazy season in UW history

    Bill Sniffin|Nov 24, 2016

During University of Wyoming home football games, War Memorial Stadium in Laramie becomes the fifth largest city in the state. And just about every one of those fans on Saturday, Nov. 19, was jumping for joy after a big cliffhanger victory. It has been a long, long time since Wyoming sports fans could enjoy their UW Cowboys sporting an 8-3 record. I am writing this on Nov. 19. We have a lot to cheer about. The Cowboys are pretty much guaranteed to play in a bowl game, and as of this moment,...

  • The importance of the Affordable Care Act for rural America

    U.S. Secretary of Agriculture|Nov 24, 2016

National Rural Health Day brings attention to the unique challenges and opportunities for health and well-being in rural communities. As we recognize these challenges and celebrate the gains we have made in improving health in rural America, I want to remind individuals and families in rural areas that the healthcare Health Insurance Marketplace open enrollment period is happening now, and affordable healthcare coverage is available on HealthCare.gov. When it comes to healthcare, rural Americans have historically faced fewer options and more...

  • Watching the Watchmen

    Rep. Cynthia Lummis|Nov 24, 2016

During my time in Congress, I have seen in this Administration’s policies what I consider obvious executive overreach and a blatant lack of transparency. Regardless of an administration’s party or platform, Congress is constitutionally obligated to investigate and scrutinize the executive branch. I have worked to do just that as a member of the Oversight and Government Reform Committee. In this committee we have investigated a slew of national security failures. After the attack on the consulate in Benghazi and the deaths of four Americans the...

Senators Mike Enzi, R-Wyo. and Michael Bennet, D-Colo. were the prime sponsors in the Senate and Representatives Cynthia Lum...

This holiday season the Pine Bluffs Junior-Senior High School Student Council is asking for the community’s help in two of their community service projects focused on helping those less fortunate. According to Pine Bluffs High School Student Council Advisor Ashley Rousseau, there are some changes in the council’s usual events. The council is reaching out not only to the community, but the state as well. The Buddy Bucks program has been a community project for the student council for many years. • Looking Back

    Nov 24, 2016

1 YEARS AGO Nov. 23, 1916 A box social was to be held at the Sunnyside school house eight miles northwest of Pine Bluffs with prizes given to the prettiest lady and man with the largest feet. A. F. Ahlstrom of Gary was hauling lumber for a new cattle barn. J.O. Cloyd of Fairview erected a new monitor windmill to take the place of old betsey the gasoline engine. The Union Pacific Railroad was nearing completion of the double track from Pine Bluffs to Archer. Fred Mathias, former editor of the Pine Bluffs Post, was to start at paper in Lingle,...

    Barb Cross|Nov 24, 2016

Good morning and Happy Thanksgiving to each of you! Most of us have a whole lot to be thankful for; homes, food, heat, water, friends, family and good health, just to name a few. I hope you all are just where you want to be this holiday and that you have a terrific day. Plenty of turkeys have found their way onto platters today, however I know of three that are still getting into my flower beds. They were all babies this summer and I am wondering if maybe they think they are dogs. They like to...

  • Albin News

    Charlene Smith|Nov 24, 2016

After the leaves change, or often before, the first snow falls in Albin. We all watched the leaves change, fall and blow away in a warm late year wind. Then we waited. Almost a month of open windows and propane tanks sitting idle, we waited. In true cowboy style, the storm came in when it was ready, stayed as long as it took to do the job, and left things, at least the snow melt, a little better than it found it. A man who holds close to cowboy ethics celebrates another year of weathering...

  • Hornets dish out poetic justice on regular season victors

Jimmie Earls, Pine Bluffs Post Editor|Nov 24, 2016

Given their 4-4 finish last season, who knew what was in store for Hornet football fans in 2016? But it's odd how, the team that brought their season to a halt last year, Tongue River, was the same team team they beat to win the state title this year. Can it also be chalked up as coincidence that the two teams that beat Pine Bluffs during the regular season, Tongue River and Upton-Sundance, are the exact teams they re-matched with and beat during the playoffs to win it all? Some will say simply...

  • How it all started...

    Becky Christofferson|Nov 24, 2016

Getting into the state title championship game isn't something that just happens overnight and this Pine Bluffs football team knows all too well the dedication, motivation and perseverance it takes to accomplish such a feat. But oh, it was well worth it when the Wyoming State 1A title was handed to the team after defeating Tongue River 10-7 Nov. 12. Many of the seniors who brought home the title started out as fourth graders, learning a new style of football through the Pine Bluffs Youth Tackle...

  • Post-season accolades for Hornet players

    Staff Report|Nov 24, 2016

Pine Bluffs Senior Ruger Lewis was selected to the Casper Star Tribune's Super 25 team and was honored at a banquet Friday night at the Ramkota in Casper. This is the first time a Pine Bluffs player has made the team, which started in the early 90s. Also being selected for the 3rd Super 25 team were teammates Kyle Steger, Alex Graves, and Haize Fornstrom. Also recognized that evening was Pine Bluffs Hornets Head Football Coach Will Gray as he was selected as the Casper Star Tribune's Super 25...

  • In their own words...

    Nov 24, 2016

The following are congratulatory remarks and thoughts on the Pine Bluffs Hornets football team winning the Wyoming 1A State title that were submitted to the Pine Bluffs Post. As I entered the stands last Saturday, a Big Horn fan, leaving their game asked me, “Is anyone left back in Pine Bluffs?” His joke says something about the tremendous turnout. This support was well deserved by an outstanding team and their coaches. The upperclassmen went through a lot of adversity to reach this achievement. Their success is an example of the reward for...

  • The team behind the team: coaching a state champion

    Staff Report|Nov 24, 2016

When the clock ran out of time at War Memorial Stadium in Laramie Saturday, Nov. 12 with the Pine Bluffs Hornets leading the Tongue River Eagles 10-7, the big one - the Wyoming State 1A Class Football Title - was finally coming home to rest in the halls of Pine Bluffs High School. And on the sideline were four very proud gentlemen. These gentlemen didn't want any accolades thrown at them, knowing full well the work and dedication the football players had put in, not only through the course of...
