  • Farmers State Bank, still thriving after 100 years

    Polly Taylor|May 14, 2015

It's not often that a business continues to grow and prosper after being around for 100 years, unless there have been major upheavals, like being absorbed into a larger, more modern corporation. And it's just the nature of human beings to gossip, and repeat what they've heard others say, negative or positive, especially about businesses. So, the management and staff of Farmers Bank would like the community, and public at large, to know that Farmers Bank has always been a 'home owned and home...

  • Just a few thoughts... on seat belts

    Polly Taylor|May 7, 2015

Every single day, lately, it seems I've been getting notices from the Wyoming High Patrol about another fatality accident. I just received one that said alcohol was being investigated as a contributing factor. This makes almost, if not already, 40 fatalities on Wyoming roads this year. The one thing that the majority of the accidents had in common – those involved were not wearing seat belts. Now, I am going to be honest with you – I dislike seat belts. I really don't know why I don't like the...

  • Just a Few Thoughts...

    Polly Taylor|Apr 23, 2015

Had enough rain yet? No? I didn't think so. I realize that moisture is a very valuable commodity, and is needed, especially in areas where agriculture is the main source of bread and butter for the inhabitant. However, do we really have to have this much wind? Back to the moisture though. Last Wednesday was a particularly nasty day, and one of the worst I think I've ever experienced, at least at work. It was about 4 p.m., it was so dark outside one might have mistaken the time for 9 or 10...

  • Local farmers get involved

    Polly Taylor|Apr 16, 2015

Legislative policy is only as effective as the people who write it, and when people sit back and complain, do nothing to help themselves, and offer no alternatives, then they have only themselves to blame. That is not true of Ken and Angie Macy of Pine Bluffs, long-time farmers in the area, and more than willing to get involved so that more people will benefit from every aspect of agriculture. Recently, the Macy's attended the annual convention of the National Farmer's Union in Wichita, Ks....
